The services offered include

Timber decay

  • With non-destructive investigation methods Botamynus analyses the cause and the extent of timber decay by fungi or insects (including termites) in timber bridges, ships, railway stations, timber framed buildings, monastries, churches and other timber constructions.

  • Botamynus provides cost effective, precise and environmentally sustainable conservation solutions for the restoration of timber structures by using the most up to date techniques.

  • By joining restoration specialists, the combined experience in wood science, timber pathology, mycology, entomology, timber and building construction and conservation guarantees the most effective long term environmentally sustainable conservation solutions for the restoration of timber structures.

  • The combination of great scientific knowledge and huge practical experience saved some historic timber construction monuments from being demolished. The non-destructive inspection and the non-toxic preservation made them last for another fifty years or more.

  • Recent projects undertaken are for example:
Moy timber bridge, a 100 years old timber railway bridge in Northern Scotland (in collaboration with EBS)
Manchester Railway Station in England (in collaboration with Oscar Faber)
    Orthopädische Klinik in Rothenburg, Germany
    Neupfarrkirche in Regensburg, Germany
    Kartause Mauerbach, Austria

Mould growth

The sick building syndrome very often is caused by moulds due to damp problems and poor indoor air quality.
  • Botamynus provides independent scientific analysis and advice on sick building problems.

  • Botamynus is using air samplers,

  • Botamynus is using particle samplers,

  • Botamynus is using MVOC collecting methods,

  • Botamynus is carrying out laboratory analysis to count and identify the microbial contaminants.

  • Botamynus is using the tape test method as the only reliable one to identify the moulds which are growing on materials like walls, timbers, fabrics etc.

  • A thorough knowledge of the biology, ecology and physiology of moulds enables Botamynus to make an accurate assessment of the problem in the indoor environment using a range of instrumentation and equipment.

Mould control
  • Botamynus has invented a system for controlling infestation by an environmental micron high degree filtration system. The system removes more than 99% of fungal particles from the affected areas.
